Very promptly resolved my issues. However, had my wife and daughter been home, Iâd have a real problem with the way they knock as theyâre opening the door.
Edit: The above post was from 2018-2019. I lived here with my wife and daughter for 6 years. Originally I gave the place 4 stars, it was reasonably priced. Not a great neighborhood, but it couldâve been much worse.
Letâs talk about the truth of this place real quick. Maintenance is good. Unless you need something major, like a hot water heater, or AC unit, fixed or replaced. The AC unit to my apartment was frankensteined together by three different companies the second summer I lived here. Loud, leaky, sounds awful every time it fires up. But hey, it blows cold-ish air outta the vents.
Amenities, pre covid, the gym was ok. The 1998 style pulley weights were broken in, and kinda unsafe. The treadmill was rigged to work, but only just. The pool, youâre lucky if thatâs open for 2 months out of the year. And it might get cleaned once in those two months after being filled. Iâve literally heard the maintenance guy saying, why waste money on expensive chemicals when itâs only open for 6 weeks.
Post covid amenities. After our contracts were violated, maintenance not entering units to stop the spread of sickness, exterminators not being brought in for pest control, even though we signed paperwork stating that was something they would do as part of the leaseâ¦..what can I say, the world shut down, and we just have to shrug and say, âWhatever.â.
I gave the office 2 months and some change notice I was moving out. Per the rules. My wife and I were never, ever late paying any bills to this company, even though the AMC rent pay website likes to lock you out of your account every single time you log into it. And we have to pay a surcharge, to have the privilege of paying online every month, AFTER setting up a new password.
When we moved in, under prior management, they had not cleaned. They put in new carpet, and painted over a chain smokers lung residue. Which, when it gets above 77 degrees inside the house, would bleed through the coat of paint. So, every time we showered, or cooked, we had to wipe the walls of nicotine drips from the previous resident. Our doors were all battered, and looked like they had fists, feet, or blunt instruments put through them. We were told, we would not get new doors. Period.
We lived in the corner unit, ground floor, by the street. So, lucky us, we got all the trash from the street, and the neighborhood in our back patio, and in our bushes by the front door. Daily, I would clean this up, former management actually said I was throwing the trash on the ground. So I just bought a leaf blower.
Over the course of 6 years at this place, Iâve had 10 plus neighbors, come and go, on either side, and above me. Walls are paper thin, but thatâs just apartment living, right? Mostly, after you rent an apartment for six years, your carpet is going to need replaced. We didnât own pets. But weâve seen 6 winters, 6 stormy spring/fallsâ¦..carpet needs replaced. Even says on the move out forms, if youâve lived there 2+ years, youâre deposit wonât reflect carpet cleaning negligence, or some such a nonsense. So imagine my surprise, to get charged for carpet cleaning, as Iâve seen people move into a freshly carpeted unit, and a year later, the company is replacing the rugs for the next tenant. Iâm not saying they shouldnât. Iâm saying, after 6 years of seeing these other units get new carpet multiple times, why am I being charged for the cleaning of trash?
The drip pans on the stove, and the blinds by the back door. I bought a brand new pack of both. Replaced them 15-20 minutes before I turned over my keys. After my wife and I spent 2 days off, moving, and scrubbing the walls. But Iâm getting charged to get them replaced? When I already paid Walmart and Loweâs?
Basically, if you move in here, Iâm not saying youâll hate it. But, when you leave, donât make the extra effort.
