When I first moved in to my first apartment ever, the lady from the office told me during the walk through not to worry about the stains on the carpet because when I move out after my 12 month lease they are going to replace it.
I ended up getting charged $200 for the carpet when I moved out because they had a revolving door of management and the original management didn't relay the message to the new one that I'm not to be charged for the carpet because its getting replaced.
The new management told me I still owe $200 because it was not written in the lease. I would have written it if I had known there was going to be a different management from the time I moved in til the time I moved out.
The woman who worked there & told me not to worry about the carpet cause they were replacing it, should have noted that in the lease since this being my first apartment I didn't realize that nor did I think there would be a new management by the time I moved out.
It was the employee of the leasing office that dropped the ball. She knew when you tell a tenant not to worry about the carpet, that it needs to be written in the lease. I didn't know that.. this was my first apartment, but SHE DID !!
