Writing this a second time, because people need to know what a dump this place is.
1. When we signed up, they told us we were getting a non-smoking apartment. We get the keys, boom, smelled like an ashtray. Washed the walls, shampooed the carpet, asked maintenance to replace the air filter, ended up having to do that myself.
2. Moved in, broken drawers in the kitchen and leaking sewage on the bathroom floor, told them we needed it fixed ASAP. Never got fixed. Ended up fixing the sewage issue myself as I was tired of wearing boots to brush my teeth. (Was a toilet flange that was leaking onto my floor and the apartment below). Non-working drawers never fixed after 5 maintenance requests.
3. Went without air conditioning for six days in the middle of summer because there is no AC units in KC.... I do this for a living - there was plenty. They did put a mobile AC in, that brought the temp from 105 to 95.
4. Was late with rent once because we were on vacation - got charged with no grace and pre-eviction notices on the door. Maybe just call and ask? seems like that's easier than printing a nasty letter and walking over and putting it on my door but ok. I thought I had it set to AutoPay and I told the management that but they wanted the extra hundred dollars they charged me so whatever.
5. Maintenance has been in the apartment multiple times with zero notice, twice while my wife was in the shower at home alone and she had no clue till she came out. Not okay.
6. They perform random inspections to try and charge you for stuff like broken blinds in the middle of your lease. Is that not what the deposit is for???
7. Once, we had a leak in the mechanical closet pouring water for 8 hours, noone showed up. probably 100 gallons of water. after 8 hours, someone came and turned a valve upstairs and left. wtf.
8. The management is either a 13 year old girl at the front desk or a rude lady in the back office, neither of which really help with anything or care at all.
9. Laundry is 4 bucks a load, and often the card to get in the laundry won't work so you have to either break in or walk 200 yards with your laundry.
10. Got a notice that rent was increasing, which is no big deal, market price etc., but it was first come first serve. I was already living there. How is a rent increase first come first serve? If I'm late to decide to renew, you're going to charge me more? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.
Overall, worst place I've ever lived, I have never seen worse management. The maintenance guys are great and nice, but severely overworked. I would warn anyone to not live here. The turnover is insane. In the building we lived in with maybe 10 apartments, in a year, saw probably 8 people move in and out. That speaks volumes for how much of a dump this place is.
